In response to: not quite what I expected

What was interesting from watching the rather unsuccessful ITV 'worm' audience reaction tracker (other than how irritating it was that the internet lagged considerably behind the tv feed, which meant I either had to forgo gorgeous Cleggy in HD, or remember that the worm was tracking things said fifteen seconds earlier) was how much more the reaction was in the positive rather than the negative half of the graph. Can't help but think this was due to all participants saying what they think people wanted to hear, rather than going out on a limb for change. Think this hits Cameron the hardest, as people are increasingly identifying Clegg as the voice of a different politics, while remaining sceptical on the Tories have changed/Tories can bring real change issue.

In response to: Well, there's gonna be an election.

hehe yes, I admit there's an irony to me posting that rant here ;)

I don't know who I'm going to vote for, to be perfectly honest - at the moment, I'm changing my mind every day. But seeing all the manifestos in full might help. Hopefully.

as you say, it's much easier to have a discussion over new social media than look someone in the eye. Hence this blog post.

Although annoyingly, I agree with everything you say here. Now put in your next post that you're going to vote Tory and then we can have a proper discussion :)

Can I also recommend singing "The Tweenies, The Tweenies, la la la-la-laaaa, The Tweenies" to the tune of The Sweeney. That really seems to irritate people.

In response to: Morris Dancing Is Rubbish

Well that's it, I'm gonna set them all on you. YOU'RE to blame. YOU'RE to blame that it's all failing and no-one's taking part.

I love Morris dancing. I was just testing you all. I liked it when it was on the radio, before it was famous.

Expect a visit from Charlie Corcoran.

I'm sorry, I can't agree. One of my exes is a big morris dancer and I have to say that it really looks rather enjoyable, even if I didn't get sucked in myself.

Yes ME, ME, ME, ME

I have alsways wondered exactly what
'Jean - The generic mental - Slater's ' actual mental illness
is supposed to be. Given how realistic Easter's likes to be when
producing storylines about current issues in society, it's
hilarious that poor Jean has been given a 2D character from a
carry on film :) Still it is very entertaining to watch her
mentalness, even if we don't know what it is :)

More comments on other characters in EE's please.

In response to: Terry Sperm, where are you?

(1) yes
(2) possibly

I've been away from the computer spending time with my new girlfriend Candida. Things are getting pretty serious and although neither of us are perfect, having been in and out of our fair share of bad relationships, we're both determined to make this one work. Marriage may not be out of the question.

Having realistic expectations of what being in 'a couple' involves, not making unreasonable demands and so forth, has given us the mature outlook on the relationship that has allowed us to thrive together. I guess we go to show the old adage is true, beggars can't be choosers.

In response to: it's not just me then

Well basically Gary, with regards to the situation as I see it, we do need to re-group and move on from our current position, and look forward to try and re-position ourselves in the marketplace. At the end of the day, you know, it's just, my opinion, like I was saying.

Innit tho?

Advice for a confused friend

guess there's something wrong with me
guess i don't fit in
no one wants to touch it
no one knows where to begin
i've got more than one membership
to more than one club
and i owe my life
to the people that i love

he looks me up and down
like he knows what time it is
like he's got my number
like he thinks it's his
he says,
call me, miss difranco,
if there's anything i can do
i say,
it's mr. difranco to you

some days the line i walk
turns out to be straight
other days the line tends to
deviate
i've got no criteria for sex or race
i just want to hear your voice
i just want to see your face

she looks me up and down
like she thinks that i'll mature
like she's got my number
like it belongs to her
she says,
call me, ms. difranco
if there's anything i can do
i say, i've got spots
i've got
stripes, too

their eyes are all asking
are you in, or are you out
and i think, oh man,
what is this about?
tonight you can't put me
up on any shelf
'cause i came here alone
i'm gonna leave by myself

i just want to show you
the way that i feel
and when i get tired
you can take the wheel
to me what's more important
is the person that i bring
not just getting to the same restaurant
and eating the same thing

but then again, jail time doesn't deter anyone.

maybe it's time we hung 'em high.
I think there has to be a two state solution. Nothing else will ever work. And since there have been quite spectacular atrocities on both sides, it's pretty difficult to start apportioning blame in the simplistic way Americans (particularly those in positions of political power anyway) often like to.

At the moment, it feels a lot like Apartheid South Africa. Unfortunately with much bigger weapons.

In response to: Apostrophe Debate

Clearly an over elaborate 'S'. My reasons:

1) the alleged 'apostrophe' is connected to the 's'.

2) the 'r' is very elaborate, it seems that they have 'bookended' the title with elaborate letters, leaving the simple letters (which appear without curls) with a neat line on which to rest. Even if this 'apostrophe' were real, the 's' would still contain a curl. We must come to the conclusion that the 's' is different from its peers.

3) The Racoons were great. They wouldn't be so stupid.

Wasn't there a proper fit racoon in the show? I seem to remember one...

In response to: Collective Nouns

A phallus of Daily Mail readers perhaps?
My favourite not-real one is "an epicentre of techies"

Oh, and you know the one Not The Nine O'Clock News did? A flange of baboons? Well apparently people have started using that as being the actual collective noun! See
